The West End of Glasgow plays host to a number of great bars, pubs, restaurants and loads of entertainment. Just a short ride from the city centre, the West End is the perfect place to meet your friends for drinks, dinner, and music.
A hugely popular destination just off Byres Road is Ashton Lane. Throwing a Bohemian vibe into Glasgow, with photo-worthy cobbled streets lined with twinkling fairy lights, this is a great place for dates, dinner, and meeting friends for drinks. Ashton Lane is home to a number of bars, including Vodka Wodka, Jinty McGuinty's, Brel, Dixie Chick, Ubiquitous Chip, Innis & Gunn Beer Kitchen Glasgow, and The Gardener. Vodka Wodka has a great outdoor space, which is great for summer night's, even in the colder months, the chill can be made bearable with the help of outdoor heaters.
Hillhead Bookclub, just 5 minutes from Ashton Lane, offers amazing food and drinks at really great prices. With retro games and ping pong at hand, you and your friends can have a great night here. Catering to small and larger groups, set menu's (including vegetarian) are on offer, you can even have drinks to share with your friends served in a treasure chest or a fog horn. The Bookclub hosts live performers throughout the week, club nights and special events including the upcoming Halloween Night -with free entry, be sure to check it out.
For the more arty among you, located at the cross of Byres Road and Great Western Road, lies the Ćran MĆ³r. Disguised as an old church, it plays host to a number of events throughout the year, including comedy, theatre and live music as well as being a popular destination for club nights. I recently attended a comedy gig here, having never been before I was surprisingly impressed with the size, service, and cost of drinks at the venue.
I hope I've inspired you to have a night out in the West End, and be sure to check out some of places mentioned!
